Valentines Day Fundraiser

Valentines day has loooong gone now but today was the day that we finally found out how much money we raised during our little fundraiser.

Sarah (a fellow trekker) and I decided that Valentines day would be a good opportunity to raise a bit of money. We decided to hold a little bake sale in one of Southampton's coolest clubs; Jesters. It may be pretty gross inside but its not called the 'Palace of Dreams' for no reason haha. Anyway, we decided that drunk  people would LOVE cookies/biscuits (I know I would).

I baked the heart biscuits and Sarah baked the chocolate chip cookies (and holy moly they were so nice). Out of the whole process the icing was the hardest to do, especially writing the little messages on them. Some of them actually turned out well... others unfortunately didn't, but a lot of sprinkles rectified those ones!

I was a bit nervous about the selling part of it as it could have literally gone either way. Fortunately we were able to raise a whopping £118.27 together! I didn't think it would actually go that well but all those hours slaving away in the kitchen with my lovely helper Lauren paid off :)

Basically just want to say a huge thank you to all those people that bought the cookies from us or just donated out of the goodness of their drunken hearts!

so many biscuits and that wasn't even all of them :(

Journey Update!

This was sent to me recently and it shows all of the places I will be going to when I go to Uganda this summer! This makes it feel so much more real, I'm so excited ahh :)
I didn't actually realise how far all the places were from each other, so I'm happy I'll get to see a lot of Uganda.

If I was to burst out into song I would probably be singing the chorus of this haha - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQqwG_rQx7A

Sleek Purchases

In my opinion Sleek is pretty underrated. I am a big fan of their blushes so I  ordered the Blush by 3 in Pumpkin. I've also been meaning to get their brow kit in black as it has a pigmented wax powder. I find that there are not many brands that sell brow products in black, so yay I finally get to try this one out! Although from my initial thoughts on the packaging is not really good because the little brushes move about a bit too much. But that is something that I am willing to get over :)

swatches l-r - P Pie, Squash and Lantern

Pumpkin contains:
Lantern - a shimmery red
Squash - a satin dolly pink
P Pie - a matte bright orange

As you can see from the swatches they are really pigmented and build-able colours. I think this palette is good as you can wear the colours all year round and they would suit most skin tones (depending on how much you build up the colours).

I am pretty excited to try out these products!

Pumpkin blush palette - £9.99
Brow kit - £8.49

Past Playgrounds

Sorry for the lack of posting but I should be on schedule from now on! Today's post is a long overdue fundraising one. I thought I'd show you pictures of the playgrounds that have already been built by East African Playgrounds in Uganda. If you don't know who they are yet then you should probably back track to this post

As you can see EAP builds a wide range of activities for children from swings and slides to play shops and musical instruments. An added bonus is that all of the materials and manpower used to build these playgrounds are from local businesses in these areas, which also benefits them.

There are loads more pictures on the EAP facebook page which you can click on here. You should also give them a like whilst you're there! :)
