The Gauntlet: The Aftermath

Well as you may know I ran the Gauntlet last Sunday in Essex, which was a mud obstacle run and boy was it hard. There were mud pits, walls and hay barrels you had to climb over and a tiny lake that you had to swim through (plus many little obstacles), I felt like I was in some army bootcamp! I got through the obstacles with a few scratches, which were mainly from the stinging nettles that were everywhere. But I did end up tripping over a twig haha (doh!). Although the race was hard it was so much fun and everyone was so nice, they'd help you climb out of the mud and their families would cheer you on when you ran past them. Anddddd the best part was that I ran the race in 1:06:52 and finished 69th out of 478 people. Which is pretty cool for my first ever mud run :)

Because we were preoccupied with nerves, we forgot to take a picture of us before the run but here are a few during and after the run.

so much mud everywhere!

There should be a dvd coming out soon... so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Less than a week away

6 DAYS UNTIL THE RUN

I have 6 days to get ready for this. Judging from previous years videos I am going to look like a pig in mud. Which is always fun. I'm fearing for my life at the moment, slippery mud plus a clumsy person do not make a good combination. But its all for a good cause and this will help me train for the Gorilla Trek in June :)

Here are some videos that I've seen floating about so you can get the jist of how I will be sending my day on the 6th of April -

Or you can click here to go on the Mucky Races website and see all the events that they do.

I should really put down this chocolate now and get my butt to the gym pronto!

Weekend Post #1

Last weekend the sun was shining, the birds were singing. I had a little glimpse into this summer. I spent my weekend going out on the Friday night (cocktails and a club) and then spending the next two days doing veryyyy little besides walking and sitting out in the sun on the Commons.  Ahh take me back...

Haha had to upload this one

New Hair

I'm always wanting to blog more but I just have been getting a bit preoccupied with life! Mainly with uni essays which are starting to frazzle my brain a bit. But..... the weather is helping. The weather is amazing right now, and its getting me excited for Summer! I went home last weekend and I decided it was time to try something different to my hair. Dark brown hair can get a bit boring sometimes and I've wanted to do something like this for a while, so I just went for it.

☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I think I like it, the orangey yellow bits remind me of the sun haha. Definitely hard to get used to but it's only a matter of time right?

Valentines Day Fundraiser

Valentines day has loooong gone now but today was the day that we finally found out how much money we raised during our little fundraiser.

Sarah (a fellow trekker) and I decided that Valentines day would be a good opportunity to raise a bit of money. We decided to hold a little bake sale in one of Southampton's coolest clubs; Jesters. It may be pretty gross inside but its not called the 'Palace of Dreams' for no reason haha. Anyway, we decided that drunk  people would LOVE cookies/biscuits (I know I would).

I baked the heart biscuits and Sarah baked the chocolate chip cookies (and holy moly they were so nice). Out of the whole process the icing was the hardest to do, especially writing the little messages on them. Some of them actually turned out well... others unfortunately didn't, but a lot of sprinkles rectified those ones!

I was a bit nervous about the selling part of it as it could have literally gone either way. Fortunately we were able to raise a whopping £118.27 together! I didn't think it would actually go that well but all those hours slaving away in the kitchen with my lovely helper Lauren paid off :)

Basically just want to say a huge thank you to all those people that bought the cookies from us or just donated out of the goodness of their drunken hearts!

so many biscuits and that wasn't even all of them :(

the start of something horrible

Journey Update!

This was sent to me recently and it shows all of the places I will be going to when I go to Uganda this summer! This makes it feel so much more real, I'm so excited ahh :)
I didn't actually realise how far all the places were from each other, so I'm happy I'll get to see a lot of Uganda.

If I was to burst out into song I would probably be singing the chorus of this haha - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQqwG_rQx7A

Sleek Purchases

In my opinion Sleek is pretty underrated. I am a big fan of their blushes so I  ordered the Blush by 3 in Pumpkin. I've also been meaning to get their brow kit in black as it has a pigmented wax powder. I find that there are not many brands that sell brow products in black, so yay I finally get to try this one out! Although from my initial thoughts on the packaging is not really good because the little brushes move about a bit too much. But that is something that I am willing to get over :)

swatches l-r - P Pie, Squash and Lantern

Pumpkin contains:
Lantern - a shimmery red
Squash - a satin dolly pink
P Pie - a matte bright orange

As you can see from the swatches they are really pigmented and build-able colours. I think this palette is good as you can wear the colours all year round and they would suit most skin tones (depending on how much you build up the colours).

I am pretty excited to try out these products!

Pumpkin blush palette - £9.99
Brow kit - £8.49

Past Playgrounds

Sorry for the lack of posting but I should be on schedule from now on! Today's post is a long overdue fundraising one. I thought I'd show you pictures of the playgrounds that have already been built by East African Playgrounds in Uganda. If you don't know who they are yet then you should probably back track to this post

As you can see EAP builds a wide range of activities for children from swings and slides to play shops and musical instruments. An added bonus is that all of the materials and manpower used to build these playgrounds are from local businesses in these areas, which also benefits them.

There are loads more pictures on the EAP facebook page which you can click on here. You should also give them a like whilst you're there! :)

Shop my stash

This quick post is a couple of days late, but I thought I'd share this weeks makeup. I've decided to come home for the week so this is all the makeup I've taken home with me.

Face:
- Bobbi Brown SPF 15 tinted moisturiser in medium tint.
- Bobbi Brown foundation stick in natural tan. I love both of the Bobbi Brown products, they are quite expensive but so worth the price to me.
- Sleek luminous pressed powder. I've not really made up my mind on whether I like this or not, it seems a bit too shimmery sometimes.
- I would normally use my Collection concealer but I've left it at uni :( so I'll have to look like a bit of a zombie this week.

Cheeks:
- Sleek contour kit in medium.
- Sleek blush in Lace. As you can see I am a big fan of Sleek makeup! I love this blush trio, particularly the colours crochet and chantilly.

Eyes:
- Nars eyeshadow palette in ride up to the moon. I loveeee this palette, the colours are just so beautiful.
- Loréal super liner perfect slim. This is my go to eyeliner.
- Mua black eyeliner which stays put and is only £1.
- Avon soft black brow definer. Why are there not many black eyebrow products? :(

Lips:
- YSL rouge volupté shine in corail incandescent. Oh my goodness I have wanted one of these lipsticks for a few years now and I got this lovely bright coral colour last summer.

Harry Potter Studios

I went to the Harry Potter Studios (for the second time) at the beginning of the year! As you can tell I am a very big fan of generally the whole franchise. It's so amazing seeing the sets/costumes/props... everything! There was so much work put into all of the little details for the films. So I thought I'd share some of the pictures I took this time round. Enjoy!
